Looking to Nature for Wisdom in Embracing Change/ Harnessing Creativity/ Dealing with Chaos
Dr. Barbara Frank helps individuals, groups and organizations deal innovatively with change in their professional and personal lives.
She does this by drawing on her unique understanding of the way the Earth has responded to change throughout its 4.6 billion years of history.
Early in her career, Barbara was given the nickname “Doc Rock” by her college students. It accurately reflects her intimate knowledge of earth systems, her deep love of the Earth and her appreciation of the need for mankind to stay connected to Nature.
As a Professor of Geology/Environmental Science at the University of Maryland in Munich, Germany for fifteen years, she traveled extensively and presented lectures and seminars in most European countries. Her humor and simple straightforward way of explaining what is going on in the natural world and our place within natural systems provides one with tools for coping with change and at the same time makes one feel good about being an “Earthling.”
For six years as Senior Change Manager with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, Doc Rock worked on helping individuals, groups deal with one of the most challenging and controversial issues of the day: cleanup of nuclear waste. Realizing that people are most challenged by change and seem often unable to tap into their own creativity in the midst of change, Doc Rock developed workshops and lectures drawing on nature’s expertise in the arena of chaos, change and creativity
